The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Assam, was designated as the School Leadership Academy (SLA) in 2016 to transform school education in the State and expand school leadership development among the school principals in collaboration with the National Centre for School Leadership (NCSL), National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA). The SLA, Assam, has constituted State Resource Group (SRG) members to carry out the plan and activities of NCSL. The SRG members of Assam have conducted a 10-day Capacity Building Programme (CPD) for School Principals and translated the 10-day CPD module into Assamese. The SLA, SCERT conducted a One Month Certificate Course for Principals of Secondary Schools in collaboration with NCSL. SLA, SCERT has collected the best practices adopted by the School Principals in the form of case studies and videos. The handbook in Assamese on School Leadership Development has also been translated by SLA and submitted to NCSL. The SLA has submitted online modules on School Leadership and Management with resource materials (translated and adopted in Assamese) to NCSL, which was launched in the presence of the Commissioner and Secretary, Education Department, on the NCSL website. The SLA has also submitted online modules in Bengali and Bodo language with resource materials to NCSL for launching on the NCSL website. The SLA has also conducted an Online 64-hour Continuous Professional Development Programme for Principals of Secondary Schools in Assam. Online programmes on School Leadership and Management, Handbook on School Leadership and Management, Resource Book – One Month Certificate Course on School Leadership and Pedagogical Leadership for Learning in Secondary School were discussed during the programme. The SLA continues its journey of school leadership development, looking for the active involvement of all stakeholders.
